Rep. Stemen steps in to chair PERS board meeting
State Rep. Greg Stemen acted as the volunteer vice chair when the North Dakota Public Employee Retirement System board met Tuesday.
Stemen chaired the meeting, the first since Michelle Kommer resigned as board chair.
Kommer’s resignation leaves the board with 10 members until someone is appointed to the board. The board chair is appointed by the governor.
Executive Director Rebecca Fricke said the appointment of a new board chair is expected before the board meets again in April. But she added that a volunteer vice chair may be needed to lead the April 9 meeting.
Stemen, R-Fargo, is a community relations specialist for Sanford Health. He was appointed from the Legislative Management Committee.
