An Experienced Leader
Greg Stemen is a dedicated public servant, business professional, and community leader committed to strengthening North Dakota for families and businesses. Born and raised on a farm in Dickey, ND, Greg’s roots in rural North Dakota shape his values of hard work, personal responsibility, and community service.
Since being appointed in 2020, Stemen has brought decades of experience in education, banking, and community service to his work in the North Dakota House. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, he has played a key role in shaping responsible budgets, advancing meaningful property tax relief, and strengthening public safety through strategic investments in the state’s correctional system.

LEADERSHIP & IMPACT
Greg brings decades of leadership experience across education, banking, and public service, and he understands the needs of small businesses and the financial drivers of local economies.
In the Legislature, he serves in leadership positions of several committees, including:
- Appropriations Committee
- Vice Chair of the Appropriations – Human Resources Division,
- Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee
- Chair of the Government Finance – Regional Jail Study Subcommittee
- Member of the Budget Section, Human Services, and Rural Health Transformation committees
He has championed common-sense, conservative solutions in Bismarck, including co-sponsoring the 2025 Property Tax bill that delivered meaningful tax relief, working to address the state’s growing need for jail space to improve public safety, and supporting efforts to streamline government and increase efficiency for North Dakota taxpayers.
Greg has been recognized for his leadership and dedication with awards such as the Legislators Excellence Award from the Reason Foundation and Advocate of the Year from the North Dakota Student Association.
